Law Offices of Philip W. Collins III, LLC
A General Practice firm with a concentration in Employment Law
Since 1999, the Law Offices of Philip W. Collins III has provided legal representation and counsel to a wide variety of clients. Having been a prosecutor for nine years, I have used that experience in my representation of clients in need of a criminal defense attorney, from traffic offenses, misdemeanors, and juvenile matters, to serious felony cases.
But it was in the first few months of entering private practice and starting my own firm that I began to take an interest in employment law. It was not long before I took on my first employment law case, representing two female employees of a major insurance company in their claims of sexual harassment against their former employer, as well as against the parent company, one of the largest financial companies in the world. My clients entered into a settlement agreement with the companies that exceeded their expectations. From that point on, I dedicated most of my practice to employment law matters.
In addition to sexual harassment cases, I have reperesented clients who have been discriminated against on the basis of their race, gender, age, disability, and national origin. I have also represented clients who were whistle blowers and who suffered retaliation by their employers as a result of their engaging in lawfully protected conduct.
Additionally, I have been retained by many persons who were in need of having their severance agreements and employment contracts reviewed and negotiated. This included in-depth analysis of various non-compete and confidentiality issues presented by these documents. Often times, in particular industries, the soon-to-be former employee is confronted by critical choices moving forward in their field. These choices have lasting consequences not only for the client, but for his or her family, as well.
There are those who have found themselves unemployed for various reasons and who experience difficulties in obtaining unemployment compensation. There are also employees who come to my practice seeking help with a wage claim against their current, or former, employer.
My experience and credentials in both employment and criminal law are not only extensive, but well earned at the cost of long tiring hours and hard work. But I also have gained experience in the areas of wills and trusts, residential real estate, and consumer advocacy.
If you are in need of an attorney, in addition to what has been summarized here, I also suggest you review my complete resume under the "Attorney Bio" tab above. Retaining a lawyer is no small matter. It is extremely important that you have trust and confidence in your attorney. You should also feel a level of comfort with that person. With that in mind, please take advantage of all this site has to offer, and if we can be of service, please don't hesitate to contact us. In any event, I wish you well.
"As an attorney and counselor at law, as well as an officer of the court, my oath is to zealously advocate for my clients to the best of my abilities."
